Firelight Glass was started in 1981 with a single oil candle design. Karen Boss and James Maslach intended to create 'functional art' that would also be affordable for most people. Currently Firelight employs over 15 glassblowers at its home in San Leandro, California. Many of these glassblowers were present when we produced our first oil candle. We now hand craft over 30 designs, and can personalize our candles and lamps with custom etching.
We found that many people were using Firelight candles for their weddings. Often they were on the dining tables, as well as for gifts and keepsakes to commemorate the occasion. In recent years we have made a wide variety of unity candles. We hope to provide a beautiful and romantic reminder of a very special day.
For over 20 years we have been dedicated to customer service, and our staff is very experienced with solving unforeseen problems and rectifying oversights. We pride ourselves on the testimonials we receive from satisfied customers, and dedicate ourselves to maintain that high level of customer service.
While we do not have 'off the shelf' unity candles or specific packages of centerpiece candles, we can offer any of our designs with custom etching. Often a couple will request a favorite quotation or spiritual message etched onto a unity candle. We can also etch a simple commemoration on several candles as gifts for members of the wedding party. We normally charge a $15 setup fee and a $5 per candle for etching, but we will waive these extra costs when several candles are purchased.
Since we craft and etch our candles in San Leandro (made in America!), we can turn around orders quickly. We are not subject to inventory outages that often occur with imported products. We have developed a wide range of glass working techniques that are not duplicated anywhere else in the world. We are willing to adapt all our capabilities to your specific and unique design requests.
