Biography I had a full time job but was single and could work longer hours and put plans together to meet every bride in their home and plan their event. In my area at this time (1995) no DJ did that. It took off very fast from there. I met a man by the name of Tom Adams a program director of a local radio station just getting started playing country music in our area. Not having a big budget and up against a bigger station he hired Sound Express to work the festival stages for the radio station. Most of his DJ?s could not stand up in front of large crowds and I could. I brought in the PA and mics for all of the entertainment. At this time Karaoke was big in my area so we out together large shows and kids came to dance and things like that. I knew that doing what I did best in front of large crowds would get this company a lot more business. What I didn?t know at the time was that Tom would become a life long friend and that he would convince me to walk away from my day job. A forty thousand a year job with benefits and a 401K. I thought he was crazy quit my day job! Tom felt that if I was home and could answer the phone right away (Not everyone had cell phones in the mid 90?s) I would book more events and I would have the time to go and meet with other vendors to spread the word of my company even more and even faster. It worked within that first year I was able to make more just a full time DJ that I was making with two jobs. So here we are today Sound Express Mobile Entertainment has split into 3 separate divisions. 1. The DJ providing entertainment for just fewer than 500 events every year. 2. The live sound department, we currently have three live sound and lighting rigs and work with many of today?s stars and still run sound at the festival stages. My relationship with the radio stations has grown tremendously. The sales team depends on us to bring in DJ?s at car dealerships, grand opening of department stores and when they bring in a name we are there to take care of the stages. Some of the people that we have worked with are Clay Walker, Chad Brock, Craig Morgan & The Rppintons. 3. We have started a new trend in our area I run several bars and night clubs. I know most of us work Dj?ing in clubs during the week or weekends to fill in open dates. We are going in to these places as entertainment directors and planning all of the events and formats of music with the owner?s best interest in mind. This has raised revenue to the point where we can have smaller crowds and make ore money. This reduces the amount of security which we run as well and the amount of trouble that can happen in clubs. In some cases like with one large sports bar I work with we have a DJ at the bar ever night of the week and two on Friday and Saturday nights. This keeps us quit busy. Well that?s my story I have come along way and had a lot of ups and downs but one thing is still the same after all this time. I love doing this job.
