• Biography Artist’s Statement The way that I express myself artistically is most often through photography. Capturing beautiful imagery and changing it so that it has at least one unexpected quality is my passion. This may produce images with blurred motion or saturated colors. It also may result in images that have been manipulated with Photoshop. The world, as seen through my eyes, is idealized in every aspect. My work on Latin culture is not a real life portrayal. The culture is beautiful, lyrical, and colorful in my eyes therefore, I seek to evoke these kinds of ideas in this series. Even my work that is on the darker side tends to have a haunting, idealized quality. The human need to communicate fascinates me, so I produced a series of work about that need. The sweeping lines or the arresting nature of the subject’s eyes are meant to be introspective and poignant without straying into the realm of the gritty. No matter what piece I produce, I have given a part of myself so that the viewer can see the world through my eyes and feel the world the way that I do. This is actually what I believe art is meant for to the modern artist. Adeline Dickman
