An Interview with Candice

How did you begin planning weddings and events?

I began planning and coordinating classic happenings for friends, family, church and schools in 1997 while living in Destin, Florida. My children were in a small private school and there was always something to be done and few hands to do all the work!  From there weddings and vow renewals, birthday parties and anniversary celebrations just seemed to come my way through word of mouth and friends and family. I found that I loved being around the people doing something that makes everyone happy instead of the 9 to 5 office routine.  Upon moving back to the Atlanta area, I decided it was time to move into the position that I love so much on a full time basis and thus Signature Weddings by Candice was born.  Although we call the Atlanta area home, we are available for travel to destination weddings as well.

What makes you different from other wedding and event planners?

I think what sets me apart from other planners is that I am obsessive with details, not only in my work, but in others as well. I personally oversee every component that is delivered or created on site for every wedding. I customize every occasion with some detail of the hosts personality or interests therefore creating a one of a kind celebration just as unique as they are. There is nothing better than seeing a happy couple so in love enjoy a special day created just for them!

What can you, as a planner, do for me?

I will help you create the type of wedding you envision by listening to your thoughts and ideas and putting them first. I will help you refine any details you are unsure of and connect you with reliable professionals in each category needed to bring the event to life. If you don't know what you want your wedding to look like exactly, I will help you develop a theme, color scheme or design. I will act as your sounding board and be there to handle any situation that may arise so that you enjoy the planning process as you should. Planning weddings can be an emotional time and that's why I am there for all my brides to lean on. I am a softie at heart and I get so close to all of my brides and families that I cry each and every time one goes down the aisle!

What is your scope of services?

I offer everything from complete concierge service to "day of" coordination. Take a look at the services page on my website for examples then contact me and we can discuss your individual needs.

How do we begin the planning process?

After consultation and once your contract is signed, I begin contacting referred vendors to check prices, availability and to set appointments for the client and I to visit. I visit ALL vendors with my clients who choose this level of service to ask questions they might not think of, offer insight and ideas, and most importantly to oversee contracts in order to protect my clients best interest. However, this is your wedding and the final decisions rest with you. I am there to be your safety net.

This level of personalized service sounds like it could get expensive, do you offer payment plans and what type of payment do you accept?

I do offer customized plans to fit each individuals needs. I gladly accept cash, check and major credit cards through Pay Pal, but let me address the expense of hiring a planner. I take all factors of the wedding  into consideration when pricing. The size of the guest list, the complexity of the tasks you wish for me to perform, the venue or venues in some cases, and most importantly, your budget. Hiring a planner is an investment in the quality of the event. Who spends $50,000.00 on the perfect day and then is too exhausted to enjoy it because they have been directing the vendors and staff all afternoon? Not I!
